Assistant Director of Residence Life for Student Leadership

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Student Leadership works with the Residence
Life Team to foster a residential environment that fulfills the goals and vision of the
Office of Residence Life Mission Statement: To create safe and inclusive learning
communities that support, challenge, and inspire all students to be ethical leaders
and citizens in a diverse society.

Specifically, The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Leadership Development is
responsible for fostering an environment for students which is conducive to both
personal and professional growth and achieving the objectives of a successful
student leadership development program. This position oversees the programmatic
aspects of a comprehensive leadership development program within the
residence halls and residence life student organizations. Primary responsibilities
include: Advising RHA and NRHH; supervising Residence Directors; management
of multi-functional programmatic facility, including supervision of desk staff;
and coordinating student staff training. The Assistant Director will carry out
their responsibilities under the supervision of the Director of Residence Life.

The selected candidate will be well-organized and able to work under pressure with
multiple and consistently changing deadlines. To be successful in the position,
the Assistant Director must have excellent interpersonal communication, organization,
administrative skills and demonstrated experience with taking initiative. In addition,
the Assistant Director will need a strong ability to establish and maintain effective
and collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents including campus
offices, students, staff, faculty members and various other community groups.

Finally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in working
successfully with diverse groups of students, staff, guests, and customers such as
non-traditional aged; religiously diverse; international; people with disabilities;
gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender; and persons of color.

Fort Collins is an award-winning city with a population of over 137,000 located on
the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with the foothills and 14,000-foot peaks
visible to residents. Easy access to hiking, skiing, rafting and other outdoor sports
is a great advantage to CSU students, faculty and staff. Located north of the
Denver metro area, CSU is less than an hour away from one of the nation's leading
airports – Denver International Airport.

Requirements
Required:
• Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field,
• 3 + years of full time experience in Student Affairs
• Supervision of various levels of staff (ie paraprofessional, graduate, professional, etc)
• Experience advising student organizations
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice

Preferred: • Experience with analyzing and resolving conflict, team building, group dynamics
• Experience with crisis management and ability for problem solving
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
• Experience with managing budgets and fiscal processes
• Residence Life experience
