Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs

The Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs (AVPSA) serves as the
chief deputy to the Vice Provost for University Life. This position has
direct administrative oversight for Career Services, Civic House, the
Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual
Transgender Center, the Student Intervention Services team, the
Office of Student Life, Student Performing Arts, and the Penn
Women's Center. In addition, the AVPSA coordinates the enforcement
of Penn's Guidelines on Open Expression and oversees student
crisis and intervention support services.
The AVPSA position requires a seasoned, temperate, compassionate
individual with exemplary fiscal, administrative, and interpersonal skills
and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a highly complex,
challenging environment. In particular, the AVPSA should have direct,
and demonstrated, experience administering a substantial student
affairs budget, supervising student affairs professionals, and managing
conflict and change in a university environment with grace.
Candidates must have seven to ten years of experience in higher
education administration including significant supervisory and
budgetary responsibility in a student affairs position. An earned
Ph.D. or other terminal degree is preferred; a master's degree
is required.
