Salary range: $4,948 to $10,323 (mid-point of range) per month

ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA MARITIME ACADEMY:
The California Maritime Academy is a specialized campus of the California State University
(CSU) system serving a student population of approximately 850. The campus, situated on
the shore of the Carquinez Strait 30 miles northeast of San Francisco, currently offers
baccalaureate degrees in five disciplines and includes licensing programs for future merchant
marines, coast guard and naval reserve officers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Registrar oversees
the Registrar’s office operations and management. The Registrar must possess an
understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods related to planning,
institutional data management and analysis, institutional and educational effectiveness
practices, enrollment planning, strategic planning, and accreditation.
Specific areas of responsibility include student records and academic transcripts,
registration, academic scheduling, class schedule development, classroom space
management and assignments, student grade collection and posting, transfer
articulation, the certification of enrollment, monitoring and evaluation of student
progress toward the degree, degree audits, academic data security, the preparation
of diplomas, the monitoring of student academic standing, the enforcement of
academic and administrative policies and procedures in relation to matriculation,
the implementation of any new systems and the enhancement of existing student
records and registration systems.
The Registrar is responsible for participating in the development of short and long-range
enrollment management plans and goals. The Registrar also provides leadership in the
development, maintenance and use of information systems that support strategic planning,
assessment, institutional decision making, and internal and external data reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in related field plus at least four years progressively responsible work
experience in higher education registration and records, enrollment management and
/
or student services, which includes a minimum of three years leading and/or supervising
the work of others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, or similar large, complex computer software
application.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Demonstrated work experience in an academic setting, preferably in public
higher education.
• Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations related to Enrollment Management
Services and student records, State of California Title V education code, FERPA,
General Education policies and preferably familiarity with CSU regulations.
• A clear understanding of all aspects of admissions and records.
• Working knowledge of student information systems, with experience in planning,
developing and utilizing information and web-based applications.
• Expert knowledge of basic desktop word processing, spreadsheet, database,
and presentation software.
• Comprehensive knowledge or the ability to quickly learn CMA’s office and
database software.
• Excellent analytical skills. Knowledge of business process mapping, reengineering,
and quality service.
• Working knowledge of degree requirements and academic rules, policies
and procedures.
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and build strong alliances internally and externally with
a broad range of individuals to bring the University community together around
shared goals.
• Experience with directing, supervising, motivating and inspiring others; measuring
the performance of people, teams and organizations, and assessing performance
and progress.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, with unquestionable integrity.
• Familiarity with collective bargaining and administering corrective action as
appropriate in a collective bargaining environment.
• Experience working with a diverse and multicultural population and performing
community services.
