Director, Student Media (Req. # 1913)

Position Description:
Direct all facets of Student Media to include supervision of staff and the management
of a daily newspaper and other forms of print media. Provide leadership training to
the student employees and volunteer associated with Student Media by using
educational techniques to promote responsible and ethical professionalism.
Participate in professional meetings designed to promote the growth and development
of the Student Media program. Champion the role of Student Media services to the
University and its diversified populations.

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s Degree; three or more years of professional experience involving various forms
of media, publications, and journalism; ability to work some evenings and weekends;
effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills;
proficiency with PC computers and Microsoft Office Applications software including
word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; successful completion of background
investigation prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory experience in student media; knowledge and application of professional
standards in student media; professional administrative experience managing budgets
and generating revenue in a media/publications office ability to work with diverse populations.

Salary Range:
Minimum $38,713 to Midpoint $48,418
